Abuja - Police have unearthed an array of implements including weapon-producing material and and narcotics in major Boko Haram camps in the vast Sambisa forest in New Marte, Borno state.
A statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Chris Olukolade, reveals troops found bags of used condoms, syringes and narcotics believed to have been used by the insurgents.
Charms and amulets of various shapes were also discovered in the alleged terrorists’ camps
“Other common items are syringes, test tubes and hand gloves usually found in the rubble of most of the destroyed camps. Apart from chemicals and materials for producing Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), narcotics of all types are also found to be common features as troops combed through camps in Sambisa forest and New Marte,” Olukade said.
Olukolade added that “Defence Headquarters (DHQ) Assessment teams are now in Yobe and Adamawa States to update the reports on the conduct of security operations in those states since deployment of troops in line with the state of emergency.
He said the outcome will also be presented for DHQ’s further strategic guidelines for the subsequent phase of the operations.
