President Jonathan to visit Sokoto

Sokoto - President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to pay a one-day official visit to Sokoto on Saturday, February 8.

News of the visit was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary of the Publicity Committee set up for the visit, Yusuf Dingyadi and made available to newsmen in Sokoto on Thursday.

It said that the president   will on that day preside over a grand reception to welcome the former Governor of Sokoto state, Attahiru Bafarawa who recently defected to the PDP from APC, with his supporters.

The statement stated that the ceremony is expected to take place at the Shehu Kangiwa Square, Sokoto.

It added that those expected at the event include the Chairman of the party's Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih; its National Chairman, Adamu Mu'azu and PDP Governors, among others.

“The President will also inspect the PDP state office and later meet with its elders in the state, before returning to Abuja," the statement further added.
