Akwa Ibom - Employees of the National Union of Electricity
disrupted Electricity Distribution Companies in the South South due to protests
over violation of rights, Punch reported.
Electricity distribution companies in Rivers, Cross River,
Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom were all affected as result they were shut down until

The NUEE Senior Assistant General Secretary, Cyprian Akon,
has expressed that its members were told to clampdown on the companies by the
organisation as unionists were sacked and their salaries reduced.
The union had previously issued a 14-day ultimatum to
management but their concerns were disregarded as the ultimatum expired.
Workers have stated that they will not render service in the
four states unless the union states otherwise.
