Abuja - President of Ivory Coast, Alassan Quattara and President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari commended out-going President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat in the March 28 presidential election, Punch reports.
Quattara commended Jonathan for conceding defeat in the last presidential elections and not allowing Nigeria erupt in violence which could have led to a civil war.

He spoke with journalists after the meeting with Jonathan and narrated how his country descended into a civil war after his predecessor, Lauren Gbagbo refused to accept defeat after losing the presidential elections five years ago.
He said Gbagbo’s decision not to concede defeat led to a civil war that claimed the lives of about 3 000 people.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Musiliu Obanikoro, accompanied the Ivorien President to the meeting.
