Reps ask Buhari to offer money for Chibok girls

14 October 2015, 12:47

Abuja - Members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday urged President Muhammadu Buhari to offer financial inducement for information about the whereabouts of the abducted Chibok girls, reports Daily Trust.

The lawmakers noted that the inducement may lead to the rescue of the girls.

The proposal followed the adoption of a motion by Asabe Bashir (All Progressives Congress (APC), Borno), who complained that the families of the missing Chibok girls and Nigerians were not informed of any rescue plan.

The lawmakers equally want financial assistance to the parents of the abducted girls to cushion the hardship and trauma they have been grappling with since the abduction.

The lawmakers, however, did not fix specific amount to be offered as financial inducement and want to be given to the parents.

The House also called on the Nigerian government to publish the report of the Presidential fact finding committee on the abducted girls.
