Residents burn Oyo kidnappers' den

03 April 2015, 09:57

Abuja - Residents of the Adekile, Orita Aperin area of Ibadan in Oyo State have razed the den of suspected kidnappers in the area, PUNCH reports.

The suspected den, an unfinished building with an underground section, was destroyed when youths in the area picked up objects and attempted to break down the walls before resorting to burning the structure.

Bayo Alani, a resident, revealed that the mayhem started on Wednesday afternoon when an elderly man abducted a girl in the area.

Residents who searched the building soon after the incident are said to have discovered cutlasses, bags and knives.

The violence is said to have claimed the lives of a Division Police Officer and two civilians, all of whom remain unidentified.

Police have confirmed that preliminary investigations have found the building to not be a den belonging to kidnappers but investigations into the matter are still underway at the current time.
