Abuja - More than 80 expecting women in the Rivers State have received delivery and nursing packages.
The women were drawn from rural communities in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.
Presenting the items at Government House in Port Harcourt, Judith Amaechi, the wife of the State Governor, said the initiative presented an opportunity to effect change at the grassroots and to reach out to the indigent woman who could barely cater for themselves and their families.
She lauded the efforts of the Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s administration in providing quality health care services in the communities for the rural women.
She also urged the women to make the most of these facilities to reduce maternal and child mortality rate in the state.
Meanwhile, she said her Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) had empowered women to contribute their quota to the society.
Amaechi urged other women in influential positions to always reach out to others.
She added that every girl child who had dropped out of school due to some obstacles would be given a second chance.
Condemning the recent massacre of students of Federal Government College in Yobe State, she urged women to pray for the safety and security of women and children in country.
