Port Harcourt- The Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Port Harcourt, on Friday dismissed claims by a suspected assassin, Adelola Olaore, to have graduated from the institution.
Olaore, who was paraded before newsmen by State Security Services (SSS) officials in connection with an alleged assassination attempt on Sen. Aloysius Etok., had claimed that he graduated from the institution.
The university spokesman, Desmond Wosu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt that the claim was false.
He said that the university had investigated the claim and found no such name ever existed in its records.
``The information provided by Adelola Olaore is false because we have checked our data base and there is no alumnus and graduate of mechanical engineering bearing that name.
``We have also checked those who are still students of the university and there is no such name in our records.
``Olaore is definitely not a graduate of RSUST; we graduate our students in character and learning and so our graduates cannot indulge themselves in this kind of act.
``It is very unfortunate that Olaore could make such claims and his intention is to mar the reputation and image of the university and which we will not allow.
Wosu said the suspect had given false information to the SSS apparently to tarnish the image of the university.
He called on the law enforcement agencies to begin prosecution of the suspect for providing false identity.
