Lagos - Two suspects have appeared at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on charges of oil theft.
Taiwo Seyi and Friday Akpan and their company, Ibiberebupakabo Company Limited and vessel, MT Divine Favour, appeared before Justice Agumoh the court in Rivers State on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and illegal dealing in petroleum product.
The accused persons were allegedly arrested in the Bonny Waters, River State, sometime in 2014 with 500 000 litres of stolen petroleum product suspected to be automotive gas oil (diesel).

They are pleading not guilty to the charge.
The accused persons were part of the eight suspects arrested on February last year by officers of the Nigerian Navy (FOS and NNS Pathfinder) while on routine patrol around the Bonny Water.
Justice Agomoh granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million each and four sureties in like sum. The sureties must be public or civil servant of Grade Level 9 or above.
The matter was adjourned to June 9 for trial.
