Road accidents kill 35 in Zamfara

Gusau - The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zamfara Command, said a total of 35 persons died in road traffic accidents in the state between January and April, this year.

The Sector Commander, Amos Thliza, disclosed this in an interview in Gusau on Friday.

Thliza said that during the period the command recorded a total of 71 road traffic crashes across the state in which 321 persons were involved.

"The accidents left 35 people dead and 169 others injured.

''Out of the 71 accidents recorded, 16 were fatal, 54 serious and 1 minor," he said.

He attributed the accidents to drivers’ recklessness, overloading as well as speeding.

He said the command had embarked on enlightenment campaign in order to check the trend.

The sector commander warned that the FRSC would not spare violators of road traffic rules.
