12 September 2013, 10:47Augustine Osayande

Abuja - The Army has pledged to sustain its patrols particularly in the rural areas saying the approach was proving successful in combating terror.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, Major General Obidah Ethan, stated this while receiving a combined team of senior officers from the Defence and Army Headquarters who visited the newly-formed Division in Maiduguri.

“The approach has proven helpful in the formation’s efforts at foiling terrorists attacks on citizens especially in the rural communities,” he said.

Ethan assured the team that the formation was aware of its strategic importance and mandate in the area and pledged to live up to expectation.

He said the Division was determined to accomplished its mission which includes the destruction of Boko Haram terrorists' structures.

He applauded the youth vigilante groups for complementing the efforts of the military.

The Army’s Director of Operations, Major General Odunukwe Benneth, assured the formation that although most of the logistics requirements had been supplied, additional ones were underway.
