Ikorodu - A 37-year-old sales representative was on Wednesday docked at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly stealing 7,777 cartons of table water worth N1.2 million.
The accused, Adeyemi Tayo, whose address is unknown, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and forgery.
Prosecutor Mary Ajiteru told the court that the accused committed the offences at Ragolis Bottle Water Company at Ikorodu between March and June 2014.
"The accused sold all the cartons (7,777) of table water and failed to remit the money into the company’s account.
"He was said to have forged a staff account document when asked to give his salary account details," said Cpl. Ajiteru.

Ajiteru noted that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 285 and 363 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Sections 285 and 363 provide three years each for offenders.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
In her ruling, the Magistrate, Adelabu Olagbegi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Olagbegi said the sureties should show evidence of five years’ tax payment as part of the bail condition.
She adjourned the case till November 5 for trial.
