Sambo arrives London for International Investors Council

28 November 2012, 14:13

London  - Vice President Namadi  Sambo arrived in London on Wednesday ahead of the 13th meeting of the Honorary International Investors Council.

The  meeting which takes place from Nov. 29th to 30th, would feature presentations on investment opportunities in Nigeria to be delivered by the Ministers of Trade and Investment, Agriculture, Finance and Petroleum among others.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that  the Council coordinated by Britain's Baroness Lynda Chalker, is an organisation
of prominent investors, drawn from various countries around the world who advise governments on economic development issues.

Aside from cooperating with Nigeria to attract foreign direct investments and promoting a private sector driven economy, the council is working in partnership with Nigeria in the fight against corruption in business transactions.

In an interview with the Western Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Dalhatu Tafida, the nation's High Commissioner to the UK, said the council's aims included assisting countries in Africa to develop their economy.

Tafida said the council also monitors progress achieved by individual countries through a feedback mechanism.

``what they do is to advise these countries on how to do things properly to attract more investment, and if you are an investor, they also advise you on where to invest and maximise returns from your investment''.

The 12th meeting of the Council was held in Abuja in July this year.
