Scammers impersonate Cross River Governor

23 July 2015, 11:16Okoro Chinedu

Lagos - Members the public have been alerted of scammers using the name of Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, to defraud victims of their money in return of non-existent jobs.

Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary, Christian Ita, has thus disowned a cloned Facebook account purported to be that of the governor.

Ita said tricksters were through the site swindling unsuspecting members of the public of their money for job placements.

“The said Facebook account is currently being used by swindlers to con unsuspecting members of the public of their money for job offers," Ita said.

He said this was the handiwork of fraudsters and desperadoes who are taking advantage of the job opportunities being created by Governor Ayade.

Ita warned the general public to be wary of these criminal elements.

“Given the antecedent of the governor, he has been known over the years to provide succour to the needy and less privileged in the society through his various charity platforms.

"He is not one to ask anybody to part with money for favours. If he has not done this in his private capacity, he cannot now do that as a public officer.
