Scammers target road corps boss

27 January 2015, 08:51Augustine Osayande

Abuja - A fake social networking account has been opened in the name of  Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi.

The agency disclosed the fraudulent activity in a disclaimer.

“Our attention has once again been drawn to the fraudulent practice by some dubious individuals who are bent on using the photographs of the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Boboye Oyeyemi to open purported facebook accounts with intent to defraud unsuspecting members of the public," the corps stated

It said conscious of the vulnerability of some people who might fall into the hands of these criminally minded people, it had earlier issued a disclaimer to warn members of the public to be wary of such clandestine plans.

"We are therefore, worried, that some people are still allowing themselves to be deceived by entering into any form of transactions deceptively put forward by such evil-minded people in the name of the FRSC or the Corps Marshal,” the statement read.

The corps warned members of the public not to take such photographs of Corps Marshal Oyeyemi or information on FRSC's official activities as being circulated for the purposes of illegal deals as genuine.

"Rather, they are fake, illegal and dubious acts, which all well meaning individuals must avoid falling into, while efforts are being made by relevant agencies to track the perpetrators.”
