Scores arrested for cultism, robbery in Ogun

Abuja - The Ogun State Police Command have arrested more than 20 alleged cultists and perpetrators of violent crime in the state.

Operatives attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad and the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence apprehended the suspects at different locations in the state.

According to Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the State Police Public Relation Officer, the command had been on the trail of the alleged cultists involved in many killings and crimes in Ijebu.

He said preliminary investigations revealed that the cultists had been involved in series of armed robbery including snatching of cars within major cities and along highways.

Adejobe said two of the suspects were confirmed members of Aiye confraternity for armed robbery recently.

Adejobe said the command also arrested another set of armed robbers who specialize in snatching cars and robbery operations.

Police have also recovered almost 10 vehicles and 8  guns and several ammunition of different calibres from the suspects  and arrested additional 14 suspected cultists from Agbara.
