Lagos - A 30-year-old security guard, Abdulazeez Sadu, who allegedly stole diesel worth N150,000 was on Thursday charged before a Surulere Magistrates' Court, Lagos.
Sadu, who resides at No. 1 Oyediran St., off Bode Thomas, Surulere, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Osijale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 22, at the premises he was guarding and which also served as his accommodation.
Osijale said that the security guard stole the tank, which supplies the generator diesel, property of his employers, Messrs Alatta Nzein Oyeka and Co.
The prosecutor said that when quizzed by the police, the accused claimed that thieves broke into the office premises and stole the tank containing the 1000 litres of diesel.
Osijale said that the diesel stolen was worth N150 000.
Sadu, however, pleaded not guilty to charge.
The magistrate, Mrs Joy Ogbomoiko set bail at N50 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the matter till March 18 for mention.
