Security lapses blamed for stowaway's death

16 March 2015, 13:42

Lagos - The death of a stowaway on a US bound Arik Air flight has been blamed on the lapses in security at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, Punch reports.

The body of the victim was found in the main wheel well of the airplane when the company engineers were allegedly preparing the aircraft for the next flight.

Airline operators and industry experts have said such incidents pose high security risk to the aviation sector, especially at a time when many nations are being threatened by terrorists.

Yakubu Dati, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) spokesperson, has confirmed that CCTV footage is currently being reviewed in order to establish where the man came from and how he entered the aircraft undetected.
