Senate resumes screening of new Service Chiefs

Abuja - The screening of the service chiefs that President Muhammadu Buhari recently appointed is underway at the Senate.

The screening follows a motion move by the Senate leader, Ali Ndume, that the House consider the request of the President for the confirmation of the chiefs.

Chiefs that the Senate will screen include Major General Abayomi Olonisakin as Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai, appointed as Chief of Army Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok Ibas as Chief of Naval Staff and Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

The President also appointed retired Major General Babagana Monguno as National Security Adviser.

The Senators have gone into a closed door session after admitting the security chiefs to the chamber for the screening.
