Kano - A Kano Sharia Court on Thursday sentenced nine persons to death over blasphemous statement against the Prophet Muhammed, reports Thisday.
The nine people were found guilty under Section 110 and Section 382b of the Sharia Penal Court law year 2000.
Among those sentenced to death is Sheikh Abdul Nyas, leader of the Tijjaniyya sect .

Nyas had in a preaching during a maulud event in Kano in May made the blasphemous statement which created protest in the state.
However four other persons namely Alkassim Abubakar, Yahaya Abubakar, Isa Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar were discharged and acquitted as they were not found wanting.
