Sokoto constructs N140m health facilities

25 September 2013, 11:28

Sokoto - The Goronyo Local Government in Sokoto State on Wednesday said it spent more than N140 million to construct 11 health facilities.

The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Faruk 'Yar-Rimawa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that N40 million of the amount was spent to construct a comprehensive health centre at Rimawa village.

He also said that N100 million was spent to upgrade 10 dispensaries in each of the 10 wards in the area.

“All these health facilities have since been completed, fully equipped and inaugurated.”

“We have also sustained the provision of free drugs to all pregnant women, children under five years of age and other vulnerable groups,” he said.

The chairman urged the people to patronise the facilities and others across the area.

“Husbands should also allow their pregnant wives to attend ante-natal clinics and parents should ensure that their children are fully immunised against polio and other child killer diseases,” Yar-Rimawa said.
