Soldiers arrest Boko Haram members in Baga

Abuja-  A multinational task force has arrested some Boko Haram militia in trouble-torn northern Nigeria, a top military commander has said.

The Joint Task Force (MTF) comprising soldiers from Nigeria, Chad and Niger rounded up the rebels during a door-to-door operation in Baga, a border settlement in the Borno State.

MTF commander Brig. Gen Austin Edokpaye told journalists in Maiduguri his men arrested a "substantial number" of people who had earlier participated in an assault on an army barracks.

CAJ News gathered from impeccable sources in Borno that MTF have locked down a large swathe of Bagain heightened attempts to flush out the militia.

International humanitarian organisation Red Cross officials have also been shut out of the besieged district.

There were not immediate comments from the Red Cross International to clarify the state of affairs on the ground.

But the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said it has deployed a team of  officers to provide medical assistance and humanitarian aid to needy people in the area.
