Striking Delta Assembly Staff Union suspends strike – Chairman

09 May 2015, 17:00

Asaba - The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN), Delta chapter, said on Saturday that it has suspended its strike for one week to enable it dialogue with the relevant authority.

The Chairman of PASAN, McCarthy Obrotu, said in Asaba that the union suspended the strike to hold dialogue with Gov. Emmanuel Uduaghan and other officials.

He said Uduaghan urged the union to suspend any financial requests for now due to the present economic situation of the country.

Obrotu said apart from the appeal from Uduaghan, the management of the State House of Assembly Commission had signed an undertaken to implement the demands that had nothing to do with finance.

“We are going to issue a statement to our members and staff to resume work on Monday to enable the union and the relevant authority to discuss on the issue,’’ he said.

The union had on May 6 embarked on indefinite strike over non-implementation of Memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the union and the management of the House of Assembly.
