Abuja – An operative from the Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been serious injured after a suspect fleeing fraud allegations knocked him down.
The commission stated that Jonathan Barde sustained injuries after the suspect, Tajudeen Oluwanishola, drove over him.
According to a statement by the commission, Barde sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos for medical attention.
The Commission added that a van that took the investigative team to the Gbagada Estate neighbourhood, where the suspects reside, was badly damaged when the suspect rammed his car into the vehicle in his desperate bid to escape arrest.
“Unfortunately for Oluwanishola, who bolted upon sighting the investigative team led by Pius Akoji, his escape bid was foiled by a Rapid Response Patrol team which apprehended him and handed him over to the EFCC,” the commission stated.
The anti-graft agency said Oluwanishola is being investigated for an alleged internet banking fraud to the tune of N5.5 million.
