Taraba- The Taraba Democratic Coalition (TDC) accused the Acting Governor, Garba Umar, of wasting state resources in a bid to secure the position on a permanent basis.
In a press statement signed on Friday by its secretary, Adamu Hassan, the group felt “sad” that Umar who ought to be loyal and faithful to Governor Dunbaba Suntai, was spearheading a campaign to impeach him.
They said rather than managing the resources of the state to better the lives of the people, the acting governor was sponsoring negative media against Suntai.
“Umar started with the story that Suntai died in the crash. When it was obvious that the governor was alive, Umar and his warriors changed the story saying the governor was brain damaged. They have moderated the story now to say Suntai is incapacitated,” TDC stated.
It alleged Nigeria Human Rights Commission (NHRC) had allowed Umar to infiltrate the group stating that he recently sponsored a group called by the same name with the commission.
“This group should not be mixed up with the Nigerian Human Rights Commission as the former is a caricature of the latter,” TDC stated.
The group alleged the “sponsored” NHRC issued a press statement calling on the police, lawyers and journalists to storm Taraba and facilitate the immediate impeachment of Suntai.
“The moronic NHRC, among other things, said the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the Nigeria Police should head to Taraba state and impeach Suntai,” the organization alleged.
The governor’s spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
