Three armed robbers killed in Katsina

05 June 2014, 20:43

Katsina - The Police Command in Katsina State on Wednesday said it had killed three suspected armed robbers and arrested 27 others between January and May.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Aminu Sadiq, disclosed this to newsmen in Katsina.

He said the successes were recorded due to the prompt response by the police to distress calls.

Sadiq said items recovered from the suspects included eight stolen vehicles, of which five were handed over to their owners.

He said the remaining items recovered were two AK 47 rifles, one G3 rifle, four locally made revolver pistol, one locally made double barrel rifle, 74 cartridges and more than 250 different live ammunition.

He said the suspects had already been charged to court for prosecution.

The spokesman also said that the command had arrested 21 suspected cattle rustlers and recovered 382 cattle and 188 sheep and goats from them during the period.

He said the animals were identified and returned to the owners through their respective village heads.

Sadiq urged the public to cooperate with the police by giving them useful information to expose the hideout of criminals and reduce crime rate in the state.
