Three suspected robbers arraigned in Lagos

21 March 2014, 18:43

Lagos - Three men, who allegedly used charms to rob their victim on the street of Lagos, were on Thursday brought before an Ojokoro Magistrates' Court.

The accused Sunday Oloruntoba; 28; Rashidat Oloruntoba, 30; and Adewunmi Daniel, 30 are facing a four-count charge bordering on assault and attempted robbery.

They all pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Lugard Ahonle had told the court that the accused committed the offences on February 29 at 8, Akanni St., Ijaiye, Lagos.

"The accused, while trying to rob one Fatima Folarin of her valuables, pointed a gun at her, beat her and used charm on her which caused her a serious injury.

"Investigations, however, revealed that the accused had been sending text messages threatening to kill the complainant.

"An alarm raised by the victim attracted sympathisers and the policemen on patrol," he said.

Ahonle said the offences contravened Sections 56,133, 171 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Taiwo Akanni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50 000 each with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to April 22 for mention.
