Abuja - Oronto Douglas, top presidential aide and confidante to President Goodluck Jonathan, has passed away due to cancer-related complications, Naij reports.
Douglas was previously recognised for his activism regarding oil-producing communities in the Niger Delta.
A lawyer by profession, Douglas was noted as a good friend of Jonathan's and a presidential aide.

Although the deceased was diagnosed with cancer several years ago, he was said to have worked with President Jonathan over the last few week's of his re-election campaign.
Douglas was said to have passed away at the State House Clinic in the early hours of this morning.
He is survived by his wife and children.
