Transport union to set up mega filling stations

20 October 2015, 17:15

Lagos - The National Union of Road Transport Workers, Lagos Council is setting plans in motion to establish mega filling stations to take care of its members anytime there is shortage in fuel supply, Punch reports.

The council expressed concern over the intermittent fuel crisis in the country, which often disrupts the operation of its members and the economy of the nation.

The Chairman, Lagos Council, (NURTW) Tajudeen Agbede, stated this in Lagos on Monday after his election for a second term of four years.

Agbede, who spoke at the eighth quadrennial delegates’ conference of the Lagos NURTW, said his administration was also working on a number of measures to bring sanity to the activities of its members.

He, however, did not say the number of the filling stations being proposed and where specifically they would be located.

Agbede did not state if other commercial vehicle drivers such as the taxi operators would be allowed to buy fuel from the proposed filling stations.
