Abuja - More political leaders and activists have condemned the explosion that occurred in Abuja on Monday morning.
Among those that rebuked the incident include Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi,who prayed for victims and their families.
“Not again! Another bomb blast; another bloody day in Abuja. Horrifying!
My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families,” said an emotional Amaechi.
Anti-corruption activist, Dino Melaye, said he was praying for the souls of those killed in the blast.
“It is sad that we wake up every to hear horrible stories of painful death. If the seat of power is this exposed, we are in trouble. May the souls of those wickedly killed this morning in Nyanya rest in peace and may their blood avenge their death. So sad,so sad,” he stated.
The condemnation came as President Goodluck Jonathan has also visit scene of the blast.
The President also visited Asokoro Hospital where many of those who sustained injury are currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to remain calm and cooperate with the security agencies.
It was initially reported that about 40 people had been killed following the blast alleged to emanate from a suicide bomb. However it is feared as many as 200 people might have been killed.
