Abuja - Infuriated residents protested in the Gudu area of the Federal Capital Territory after a tricycle ride burnt to death following a police chase, PUNCH reports.
An eyewitness, Bonario Nnags, said the tricycle somersaulted after the driver lost control while being chased by police. The vehicle caught fire with the driver trapped inside, therefore causing his death. Police fled the scene shortly after.
Angry residents in the area took to the streets in protest of the man's death, causing police and soldiers to be deployed in order to restore peace. Teargas canisters were used in an attempt to disperse the crowd.

FCT Police Commissioner Wilson Inalegwu has called for a full-scale investigation into the incident and advised motorists to adhere to speed limits and be vigilant so as to avoid such accidents.
The victim could not be identified as his body was burnt beyond recognition.
