Ebonyi - A 35-year-old man, Nwafor Okeagu, of Egu Achiegu in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi, was on Monday crushed by a lorry driver who allegedly lost control.
Okeagu, a commercial motorcyclist, was returning home after the day’s outing when the incident occurred.
An eye witness, Mr Eugene Onwe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the deceased and his passenger were hit from the rear by the lorry.
``He (Okeagu) was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital only to be confirmed dead.
``The passenger he was carrying was critically injured,” Onwe said.
The widow of the deceased, Mrs Celine Okeagu, said: ``I told my husband to forget today’s work but he refused. Now look at how he has abandoned the children and I.
``How do I start and how do I end,” she lamented.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver has been arrested by the police.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ebonyi police command, Mr Sylvester Igbo, confirmed the incident, saying the police were investigating its cause.
