Abuja - A truck driver has been arrested following the death of two pedestrians in a fatal accident along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos on Thursday evening.
The driver, identified as Friday Egbe, is alleged to have swerved off the road and subsequently crushed two pedestrians who had been glancing through newspapers at a newsstand.
Officials from the Makinde Police Division apprehended Egbe while his truck was towed to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.
Sola Shodipo, an eyewitness, explained that officials from the Rapid Response Team requested that pedestrians at the newsstand move further off the road so as to avoid any fatalities. According to Shodipo, this prevented the death of more victims at the hands of the truck driver.
