Lagos - Two suspected kidnappers were on Thursday arraigned in an Ijede Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, charged with conspiracy to commit violence and kidnap.
The duo, Chukwudi Nwokpo, 23 and Ebere Ezekwere, 25, of no fixed address, are facing two-count charge of threatening to cause violence and kidnapping.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Friday Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offences at Igbo Eluku Quarters at Imota in Ikorodu Magisterial District, Lagos, on November 1.
"The two of you conspired to commit felony by threatening to inflict injury and cause violence on the complainant's children if he did not give you four million naira.
"You also threatened to kidnap James Nwokpo's two children, unless he gives you the four million naira’’, he said.
The prosecutor said Chukwudi was a relation of the complainant, Nwokpo.

Ekundayo said the offence contravened Section 56 (1) (a) (b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State Nigeria, 2011.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
Magistrate Bola Olagbegi-Adelabu granted each of the accused N100 000 bail with two responsible sureties who must be gainfully employed.
She adjourned the case till November 20 for mention pending legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution.
