Lagos - The United Kingdom formally announced the death Deputy High Commissioner, Peter Carter. It was reported he died on Wednesday from suspected heart failure.
While it expressed sadness at the death, the Commission could however not shed light on the cause of his death.
"The British Deputy High Commission in Lagos is sad to confirm the sudden and unexpected death of Peter Carter," Rob Fitzpatrick, Head of Press and Public Affairs Section British High Commission, said.
"Peter will be sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues."
He assumed the Deputy High Commissioner position in Lagos in 2013.
"Where he made an exceptional contribution to the UK’s relationship with Nigeria," Fitzpatrick said.
