Abuja - The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, has urged Nigerians to take a pledge against violence ahead of the 2015 elections.
This was disclosed in a document obtained by this publication from the embassy in Abuja
“We invite you to help lead a campaign for a violence-free election by taking a stand against electoral violence and encouraging fellow Nigerians to stand with you,” the America envoy said.
He added that free and fair elections were fundamental to any democracy.
“All Nigerians have the right to exercise their constitutional right to vote and be voted for in a process that guarantees their safety and the security of their votes,” he said.
The elections would be held amid violence and terror.
