Washington – The United States justice department has fined Julius Berger Plc for conspiring with Willbros Group Inc and others to bribe unnamed Nigerian government officials with $6million, reports Sahara Reporters.
The fine follows a three count criminal charge filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
The US Justice Department charged the German-based international engineering company, Bilfinger SE, of which Julius Berger is its construction subsidiary, for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Julius Berger was bribing Nigerian government officials to get contracts for the $387 million Eastern Gas Gathering System (EGGS) project.
