Gusau- More than 300 houses were destroyed and 15 people injured during a windstorm at Tsunami area in Gusau, the Zamfara capital, according to an official.
Atiku Maradun, the Executive Secretary, Zamfara State Emergency Management Agency (ZEMA), made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau.
Maradun said that animals and other property were destroyed in the incident which occurred on Tuesday around 7 p.m.
He stated that the agency had relocated the affected victims to a primary school in the area as well as provided them with relief materials comprising mattresses and bed sheets while the wounded persons had been taken to the hospital.
Maradun stated that the agency would soon submit reports on the disaster to both the state and Federal Government for assistance.
While assuring the victims of the state government's assistance, he urged the victims to consider the incident as an act of God and be patient.
One of the victims, Aliyu Champion, called on the government to quickly assist the victims to return to their normal life.
