Woman arrested for pouring boiling water over neighbor

05 March 2015, 08:00

Abuja - Enugu police have allegedly arrested a pregnant woman after she poured boiling water over her neighbor for allegedly peeping at her while she was taking a bath.

The suspect, Mercy Chintua, has alleged that her neighbor, Emmanuel Anyebe, saw her naked after he peeped at her while she was taking a bath.

Anyebe has revealed that he was about to proceed with his own bath when the incident allegedly took place.

According to a PUNCH report, the victim has sustained severe injuries as a result of the attack and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

In her report to police, Chintua revealed that she was angered after the man allegedly saw her naked and that the work of the devil propelled her to boil water and pour it over the man.

Although the suspect has apologised for the attack, Anyebe has pleaded his innocence, saying he did not look at the woman but was instead readying himself for his own bath when the suspect stopped him and claimed that she wanted to go first.

PR Officer for the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, has confirmed the incident and said that Chintua is remorseful and has been assisting officials in their investigations into the matter.
