Workshop to educate police on Ebola

Abuja - The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba officially opened a training workshop organized to raise awareness of the deadly Ebola among force members.

The Nigeria Police Medical Department in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Health, organised the event.

According to a statement by Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Public Relations Officer, the Acting IGP said a lot had been done in the areas of education and awareness campaigns in Police Divisions, formations and brracks nationwide.

“The Force still needs to harmonize her operations with other Police key operational units, in line with the National Response Protocol. The workshop which had resource persons from the Federal Ministry of Health, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and World Health Organization (WHO) was well attended by Police Officers from across the nation,” he said.

The Ebola virus has killed at least six people locally since a recent outbreak in Nigeria. More than 1 500 people have succumbed to the scourge in West Africa.
