Yobe workers get holiday to collect PVCs

Abuja -  The Yobe State Government has declared Thursday and Friday work-free days to enable citizens an opportunity to collect their permanent voters' cards (PVCs).

The holiday way communicated through a statement signed by the Mallam Abdullah Bego, Special Adviser to State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, on Press Affairs and Information.

“His Excellency the Governor urges all workers and people across the State who have not yet collected their PVCs to use the period to collect their cards as a step towards exercising their civic duty to vote during the forthcoming elections,” he said.
He added that banks and other financial institutions operating in the state could open their doors for business during the two days.

Bego also insisted that all business and commercial activities would continue throughout the state during the two-day PVC-collection holiday.

The holiday follow the contentious distribution of voters' documents ahead of the February poll.
