Abuja - The Ministry of Youth and Development is working to establish the National Youth Development Fund through a bill President Goodluck Jonathan and the Federal Executive Council have approved.
Minister of Youth Development, Boni Haruna, said the National Youth Development Fund was a bid to fast-track the realization of the Transformation Agenda of Jonathan for the youth sector.
The Minister added that the National Youth Development Fund was conceived to deal with employment deficits, similar to the fund which was established to deal with the current housing deficit.
He expressed the firm belief that the provision of the fund to the teeming youths would afford them easy access to optimal utilization of their skills tremendously.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) more than 50 percent of Nigerian youths are unemployed.
