Youth rescue Pakistanis from abduction

07 June 2013, 07:11

Abuja - Five Pakistani oil workers that were abducted a fortnight ago at the Bayesla coast have been rescued.

Members of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) facilitated the rescue of the Matrix Energy, Oil Marketing and Trading Company employees after approaching their abductors.

No ransom was paid to the kidnappers to secure freedom for the Pakistanis.

Mujtaba Ghlum Muhammad, the leader of the Pakistanis, narrated the group's ordeal to newsmen.

“The abductors came in one speed boat, disposed us of our cash and valuables under gunpoint and asked us to enter their boat, before forcefully taking us away. We spent twelve days in the bush,” he said.

He told reporters the captors complained of government’s insensitivity to their plight, blaming the administration for unemployment.

“They were complaining about government's failure. They claimed they are involved in this business because the government does not care,” said Muhammad.
