Zamfara Government revokes leasehold on hotel

23 October 2013, 16:31

Gusau - The Zamfara Government says it has revoked the leasehold on its hotel, Halal, located in Abuja and managed by Bina Consultants Ltd.

Ibrahim Birnin-Magaji, the state Commissioner of Information, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Wednesday.

He said that government took the action due to improper documentation of the lease rights.

He said following a complaint by the hotel's supervising ministry, the state government set up a committee in March which reported some abnormalities in the lease rights.

Magaji said that the hotel was leased to the consulting firm at N465 million for 20 years by the immediate past administration of Mamuda Shinkafi without back-up documents.

The commissioner said the hotel, which was commissioned by the Yariman Bakura administration, was a four storey building of 120 rooms located at the Central Business District in Abuja.

Magaji said the state government had re-acquired its property and would look for new partners.

He said that due process would be followed in the new lease arrangement.
