Zamfara - Zamfara Government has awarded various road contracts worth N52 billion in the last two years, the Commissioner for Works, Ahmad Sharu, has said.

Sharu, said this in Birnin Tudu village on Friday while conducting the Good Governance Tour Team on inspection of some of the roads.

According to him, over 700 kilometers of road are being constructed with the money in different parts of the state.

He said the roads were designed to link local government headquarters to major high ways and connect villages with their local government headquarters.

The commissioner, who said the township roads in Gusau and Talata Mafara were part of the project, assured that work on all the roads would be completed before May 2015.

In his comment, Gov. Abdul’azeez Yari told the team that the road network would` `open up new windows of opportunities for economic growth and social transformation of the state’’.

He said that the administration has given priority to the provision of critical infrastructure such as roads, in order to pave way for speedy development of the state.

In a remark, the Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku commended the governor for ``providing the desired dividends of democracy to the people’’.
