Academy pledges to enhance governing capacity of leaders

Abuja - The China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP), a Shanghai-based National Institution, has expressed determination to enhance governing capacity of leaders to enable them develop a global perspective on leadership.

This is contained in the institution’s handbook signed by Mr Zhao Legi, Minister of the Organisation Department and President of CELAP.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that CELAP is an international, contemporary and innovative leadership academy at the cutting-edge of leadership training which is located in the Yangtze River Delta in China.

The handbook said that CELAP was committed to foster and sustain strong, ethical and effective leadership for coordinated development of economy and society, as well as mutual understanding of different cultures.

"CELAP shall build itself into an international, contemporary and innovative institution and step up its efforts to conduct training on the latest theoretical achievement in Marxism and on best practices of reform," it said.

According to the document, CELAP focused on four areas: developing global perspective, deepening reform and opening up urban-rural integration, urban modernisation, international financial system and modern financial management.

"CELAP also organises training courses for local governments and businesses for both Chinese and international participants on campus as well as online.

"Target participants are Ministers and high-level government officials, senior business executives and international participants attending tailored programmes," the handbook said.

It said that the academy had placed particular emphasis on training innovation and faculty development since its inception in 2005.

"This will indeed promote global peace and prosperity," it said.

It also said that the academy focused on value education, capacity building and behavior orientation aimed at developing leaders’ awareness of being faithful to the interest of the country and people.

The handbook said that the capacity building was designed to enhance multiple abilities of leaders, such as managing socialist market economy, developing socialist democracy and dealing with changes of international situation, among others.

"Behaviour orientation aims to help the leaders regulate their behaviour and improve their leadership skills through a variety of role plays," it added.
