Agatu massacre: I'm shocked beyond words, says David Mark

13 March 2016, 13:04

Benue - Two-term senate president, David Mark has expressed shock at what he saw during his visit to Agatu local government area on Friday, following a recent massacre that killed at least 500 people.

In a video posted on Twitter, Mark said that he was "shocked" by the amount of destruction in the area.

Watch the video below.

Mark also posted a Tweet, saying the amount of destruction was "unbelievable" and "unimaginable".

His remarks came as reports indicated that not less than 500 lives were lost during the Fulani-Agatu clashes.

Mark himself escaped assassination after his convoy was allegedly attacked during his visit to the area on Friday.

He was on a fact finding mission to the local government following the destruction caused by Fulani herdsmen, when he was welcomed by "rains of bullets".

The attack was, however, swiftly repelled by security agents.

No one was injured or killed.
