Airspace agency tasks aviators on accuracy of data

23 December 2015, 13:35Augustine Osayande

Abuja - The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has charged the Aviation Statistical Committee to ensure data produced on air transportation is credible, reliable and harmonised in order to meet international best practices.

The committee operates under the Federal Ministry of Transport.

NAMA Managing Director, Engineer Ibrahim Abdulsalam, gave the charge during a key-note address at the second meeting of the Aviation Statistical Committee for the year 2015, which held in Otta, Ogun State.

He maintained that a dynamic Nigerian aviation industry also required timely, reliable and accurate statistical data for effective planning so as to enhance safety of the nation’s airspace.

Abdulsalam assured that all the agency’s Air Traffic Management systems were operating at optimal levels.

“The safety of the nation’s airspace has resulted in more airlines and flights operating in and out of the country in the last five years,” Abdulsalam said

Chairman of the committee Mandu Adedoyin advised members of the aviation committee to come up with a mechanism that would enhance statistical development to effectively meet the needs of local and international users.
