Ambode speaks: 'We'll ensure safe return of abducted girls'

03 March 2016, 06:32

Abuja - Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has finally broken his silence over three abducted schoolgirls in his state, assuring parents that all efforts will be made to ensure their safe return, Punch has reported.

According to a statement released by Commissioner of Information, Steve Ayorinde, Ambode has condemned the incident, which took place on Monday night at the Babington Macaulay Seminary School in Ikorodu.

Ambode explained that Fatai Owoseni, Lagos Commissioner of Police, as well as Assistant-Inspector of Police for the Lagos/Ogun Command, Bala Hassan, were on the scene leading a coordinated effort seeking to ascertain the whereabouts of the girls.

The Governor has since linked the incident to recent warnings given by vandals and criminal gangs within the area, proclaiming that this is a case of "evil fighting back."
