Another Lassa fever case reported in Oyo State

Lagos - Another case of Lassa fever has been confirmed in Ibadan, Oyo State, where an eight-month-old baby was admitted to the University College Hospital (UCH). 

Today reports that Aisha, whose parents live in the Sabo community, has been undergoing treatment for Lassa fever in Ibandan at the Infectious Disease Centre of UCH.

This is the second case of Lassa fever in Oyo State, but the first patient has already been treated and discharged from the hospital. 

Health workers in Oyo State have also started a campaign to educate the public within the state about the disease and to encourage people to use good public and personal hygiene. 

Lassa fever has currently claimed 43 deaths and there have been cases of the disease in 10 states in Nigeria. Many people have been quarantined since the outbreak.
